Anna’s house – model

Giotto’s fresco The Birth of the Virgin (see previous post) shows Anna’s house. It is a semi-open structure that envelops the narrative. As it encompasses different atmospheres – each demanding its very own vantage point -, it also pivots on different vanshing points. This model is one of the possible spatialities that is hiding behind the surface of the painting and displays distortions that are characteristic to the point of view that was taken.
